Kitty Gets A Name

on May 30, 2016

The last two weeks have been an adventure with our tiny little rescue kitty. We still aren’t sure if it is a boy or a girl. I think it is a boy and Scott is still on the fence. We’ve been wrong before (Bruno was Libby for a time) and I’m worried that if we are wrong again, the vet is going to make us take a biology class. Scott has given the little fluff ball a name anyway. He has been dubbed Ducati. Scott’s reasons are that he is fast and when he purrs, he sounds like a 2-stroke motor. When I asked Scott what we will call him if he is a she, he said, “Ducati, because they are sexy.” Ummmm…ok…lol.

He is a fast little booger though. It is hard to believe that when he entered our lives just a little over two weeks ago that he could barely walk at all and now he is like a little blur. He loves to play with the dogs’ tails, and run from Bruno who thinks he is in charge of kitten hygiene. His arch nemesis is the crinkle ball because it is always trying to get away from him when he is playing with it and he is a champion¬†summersaulter.

We have been working on weaning him off formula for the last week and it has been a challenge but we are about there. He is down to one 3 Tablespoon bottle at bedtime. The rest of the day he is eating dry kitten chow. He eats it but he isn’t happy about it. This is the face I get when I tell him he has to eat the crunchies.

Little Ducati is growing so fast. He is at least twice as big as when Scott brought him home but he is still tiny. Jumping and climbing have been added to his repertoire so things just keep getting more interesting. When he gets tired, he comes to me to pick him up and snuggle him before I put him in his crate to sleep. Even though the circumstances of how he came to us still makes me mad, I am so glad to have this little monster in my life.
